How to write on a line on Word?

for example i line like _________

without underlining, how could I write on that line?

  1. Unfortunately, in the computer an underscore character _ can't occupy the same position another character occupies, so you have one or the other.  Underlining is different.

    This is one of the ways MS Word is still very paper-oriented.  Printed out, the paper could be easily written or typed on.

    Now, there IS a trick using underlining.  Word will stop underlining at the first blank on a line not followed by a non-blank character.  The trick is to put a non-breaking blank at the end of the space you want underlined.  It will fool Word into underlining everything, including normal blanks, up to that point.

    To enter a non-blank, press CTRL/SHIFT/spacebar.

  2. You can't. The underscore ie "_" counts as a character. Any other character would replace it and you would end up with ___test___. It is not possible when working on a single line.

  3. in word? and you want text above the line? UNDERLINE that specific word how you do that is highlight it and cluck the under line button
