How to write thesis: introduction and literature review?

Dear all ! I would like to know how to write introduction and literature review for thesis in biology. I would like to know the useful tips. How to avoid plagiarism? Can i take a sentence from article or previous thesis or this is also plagiarism?

  1. You can absolutely quote from articles if you properly cite them.  However, any use of an article should be in support of your own ideas and research.  You CANNOT use the results and interpretation of another researcher as your own.

    More to the point - a thesis is used to advanced the current understanding  of a subject.  It is acceptable to use quotes and citations to facilitate the understanding of the subject to date.  But the interpretation and the continuation of the new knowledge that is included in the thesis must be your own.


  2. If you are attending a college currently, visit the English department and ask for assistance. I am sure they will want to help you in your thesis and may introduce you to faculty or graduate students who can provide input into your thesis project. Ask to see some completed ones too for reference.  Please use your own ideas and words. Good luck.
