How to you best express your faith?

Do you preach to others, or show your faith by example?

Its definatly preaching.  For one, we are told to preach the gospel (Mark 16:15).  But also consider this point, an open air preacher can reach more people with the gospel in one day than the average church does in a year.

I hate to say "I preach," because I hate preaching, but that is essentially what I'm doing here in R&S, sometimes.  Erm...

I try to live as I talk about, but I backslide constantly.  I think I am essentially lazy and selfish.  Knowing what is best does not always translate into action, with me.  I have to constantly remind myself that the Quest is a lifelong work and to get back in the saddle when I fall off.

I try my best to show my faith by the way I live, but I have to admit I fail sometimes and let my pride or stubbornness get in the way.

True faith is not only a certain knowledge,  whereby I hold for truth all that God has revealed to us in his word, but also an assured confidence, which the Holy Ghost works by the gospel, in my heart; that not only the others, but to me also,remission of sin, everlasting righteousness and salvation, are freely given by God, merely of grace, only for the sake of Christ's merits.

The law is not of faith: Galatians 3;11,12;

And without faith it's impossible to please God.

So start your faith-->hope-->charity (never fails)

with grace, unless you want your hope to be hopeless,

and your love to fail as often as law also divorces people.

And have not the faith(grace) of our Lord JC with part-iality,

for part-iality isn't "with" God, but rather it's "against" God.

There is no respect of persons with God, only against God.

Same goes for law:

by the using of laws all perish, perish the thought.

Help others. Usually it's my acquaintances who see me reading my Bible or commentaries on it, who feel free to ask about their problems. Rarely, I see someone who really emits a vibe of trouble, sorrow, fear. I offer to pray for them, and thereby meet a new friend. No one has ever refused a prayer!

Preaching with words is the way to do it, according to the BIBLE (Romans 10:17).  Since God said so in the Bible, then that is inifintely higher than any man's OPINION.  

99% of the people that you come across, you can NEVER have a long term relationship with.  So explain to me how those people are supposed to see your "faith by example", when they'll never see you again?

That's why the "faith by example" teaching is nonsense.

I think our works express our faith the most ... like the song says, faith without works is like a screen door on a submarine.

I've had people ask me if I'm Christian after I've helped them, but I've never come out and told them I was or preached to anyone.  Tell them about how Jesus helps me, yes, but preach, no.
