  1. x units per lb.  Multiply this by the number of pounds and you have the amount

    Let's say 2 mg per lb in a 150 lb person.

    2mg/lb * 150 lb = 300 mg

  4. We never use pounds in medicine - it's always kilograms.  

    The first thing you need to do is convert the patient's weight from pounds to kg.  (Divide by 2.2)

    Then you multiply the dose (given in dose per kg) by the weight in kg.

    Example:  Pt weighs 154 pounds.

    Divide by 2.2 = 70 kg

    Dose of 2.5 mg/kg:  2.5 x 70 = 175 mg
