  1. By holding your paddle at a angle and by twisting your wrist as you hit the ball.


  2. when you hit the ball, chop at it, or "slice" it.

    when you hit regularly you move the paddle from back to forward, directing the ball back over the net or pushing it.

    you do the same but you come from the top or from the bottom and you try to hit the ball on its edge in a quick "slicing" motion. if you get too much of the ball, you will hit it up and out.

    you want to hit the outer edge with your slice going from bottom to top or from the top the bottom and delicately.

    another way is to hold your paddle down, drop the ball and hit it with the bottom fourth, right near the edge in a sweeping motion. don't use the middle. swing your paddle toward the outside of your forearm quickly and hit it with almost the left edge.

    those will give it topspin or sidespin. practice and experiment.

  3. hit ball at an angle and "slice and dice" it.
