I just bought a house and there is still an outhouse and that has been in use in the past few years. I would like to remove the outhouse and fill in the area. Is there anything special I should do to make sure that its filled in completely and won't seep up or smell?

  1. Does it have a ground floor and an upper level,? if so, you have to remove the ground level first, then on to the 2nd story.

    Be careful doing so.

  2. Remove the out house in the normal fashion and put lime down the hole before filling with sand/dirt.

  3. Very carefully!

Seriously ... assuming there's still a fairly big hole, just fill it in with soil.  Nothing will seep up or smell.  If it's nearly full, that's a different problem.  I imagine a septic tank cleaning company could advise you if that's the case.

  4. Smash it to pieces, burn it to the ground, trample it with a bulldozer anything as long as its removed.
