How too take a potted hydrangea and plant it in ground?

I bought a red hydrangea that was pretty and I dug the hole and put some humus in it and set the hydrangea in it and it is dying, Need to know why

  1. hydrangeas are water hogs, especially during the first year after planting.  They also prefer morning sun and afternoon shade.  You'll have a much happier and healthier plant if it's growing in some shade.


  2. Without seeing the plant it is difficult to say but my guess would be water.  Hydrangeas are thirsty plants especially when first planted.  Keep it evenly moist but don't drown it.  Hydrangeas are also famous for looking really sickly but making a come back.  Especially when they get wilty.   You won't know the true outcome til next spring when it's time for new growth.
