OK, so he claims to be a 7th dan aikido expert, has black belts in Shito-Ryu Karate, Kendo and Judo, and has studied Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu.

Having watched many martial arts movies, how effective do you think Seagal's techniques would be in real life? Could he beat Van Damme in a real fight?

How does he compare to Jet Li and Michael Jai White?

  1. Chuck Norris is 68 this year and he could still take em all on and win I  mean just look at what happened to Bruce Lee after he fought chuck Norris in one of his movies. He Died of a heart attack. Scared to death by Chuck Norris

  2. forget what you see in his movies, if he had to fight in real life he wouldn't be effortlessly snapping joints and flipping people about. I'm sure he could defend himself but I would not base his fighting ability on what I see in his movies.

Out of the other people you mention, I would say that Michael Jai White was the most efficient fighter as he is an expert in various styles of karate and has 26 titles including U.S. Open, North American Open, and New England Grand Champion.

Jet Li and Van Damme are more acrobats than fighters and neither have much experience in competative fighting.

  3. wow, these are all ACTORS, not fighters, why are you asking if he can beat up other actors?

He really is a high ranked aikido teacher.  Aikido has definite limitations.  His style is very aggressive and tries as much as possible to be somewhat practical, but it;s still a traditional art and not a fighting art.  against a trained fighter he would be at a severe disadvantage

  4. Seagal?!?!  Haven't you ever seen him run?  He's a punk!

  5. Seagal is old and fat, he's only dangerous to a buffet table.

  6. maybe you should pick a fight him and find out. at 6'6" 285lbs one would assume that he has the size advantage. though he is an actor.
