I'm a merman, but I was originally a human.  The oldest merfolk I've encountered said he was 526.  They aren't immortal.   They can be killed by humans, which is really tragic.  I've heard a lot of stories about people hunting them, especially in the 1600s.  As for their beauty, they do always seem to look vibrant, even the old ones.  But they do get white hair.  I think it's something about their skin, though because none of them seem to have wrinkles, so they always look young.
