I would tell my daughter to smile when she wants to, not has to.

I would hold up beauty pageants as what not to do.

  1. :) i'm smiling now because you asked that.  they are contrived and disturbed and hide god knows what.  good for you for teaching your daughter to be genuine rather than phony.

  2. I hate when they do thet in Beauty Pagents.

    they look like Barbie dolls!!!

  3. Those are the most twisted smiles of all.

No one should be forced to smile when they don't want to.

  4. I like the smiling when she wants to. Yeah, fake smiles are kinda bad...never thought of it.

  5. OMG!  I totally agree w/ you!  I hate when people used to tell me to smile!  I used to wonder the same thing, "should I walk around w/a stupid smile on my face?"

when you force someone to smile, you're asking them to smile to make you feel more comfortable!☺☻

  6. I teached my girl's and boy's to smile when they want to and teach them that if they don't want to smile around people, at less give a little smile to show some respect. I do not force my children to smile, they have their own saddness day's and they have their own thought's and feeling's and by not smiling is showing some feeling's and thought's. Don't force your child to smile because then she will not won't to smile anymore and that would be herriable. I did not see my daughter smile for a very long time 3 year's because she was depressed and I had dreamed to see her smile and she finely did but I have never made her smile.

  7. Amen to that! Nothing wrong with teaching our girls to be real and not fake. However, nothing wrong with teaching them to feel good about themselves, to have good self esteem, and to smile about it.

  8. Quite disturbing, i agree.  I follow your philosophy - smile when you want to smile, never fake it for someone else's convenience.

  9. i totally agree!

  10. Some girls enjoy doing beauty pageants.

It can lead to friendships and scholarship money, which in my book are both good things.

I've never been a fan of parents forcing anything on children.

But that doesn't mean you should say that your child shouldn't do beauty pageants, if your child wants to do beauty pageants then you should support them in it.

  11. I think those beauty pagent girls are kind of scary looking, they have all that make up and fake teeth. But yeah, smile when you want to.

  12. Well..... she'll have learn to fake smile sometimes...like at her job dealing with idiot customers!  Also, she'll have to smile when she gets an ugly sweater from grandma at Christmas- she needs to know how to smile and say she loves it, even though she hates it.

But, I know what you mean.  I agree that women should not smile just because we are supposed to all the time and be subservient.

  13. Yes. Me to. Smiles are meant for happiness, not to be forced upon a beautiful face.

I think beauty pageants should let them not smile, they're still beautiful! Or maybe they should make them happy

    =)

  14. I disagree with saying that they are ugly, yeah, maybe it is fake, but if they want to do beauty pageants its their choice? And none of them look ugly, they all look beautiful.

  15. Fake smiles are awesome, because it looks like they are really trying to hide their disgust and evil little thoughts.

  16. I hate those beauty pageants for little girls - they're just revolting.  Putting make up on those beautiful little faces and trying to make them look like something they're not supposed to be is quite obscene to me.  I kinda think there's something pathologically wrong with the mothers for making their daughters do that stuff - like they wanted to be models or something but didn't make the grade, so they're forcing their broken dreams onto their poor daughters.
