How underrated is Ray Lewis?

I know everyone says that he WAS great, but I think Ray Lewis is still a beast. He is a great motivator and is probably among the smartest defensive players ever. Even when he was on trial for murder, he still came through consistently. Yet I just read a poll that says that he is not even in the top 10 linebackers today. That's ludicrous to me. U?

  1. Ray Lewis is a once in a generation type of player....he's rightfully regarded  as the best defensive player of his genertion. Without him, the Ravens D is not any where close to what it is....a perenial top 5 defense, ranked 22nd in the one year that Lewis was injured. He is the only one left of the record setting 2000 defense, and the Ravens are still as nasty as ever. For the person asking waht he has done since Siragusa and Adams left in 2001...all he has done is; win another defensive player of the year, led the Ravens in tackles every year while anchoring the stingiest run defense in the NFL, crushed several bones, and making the big plays when needed.
