Did you enjoy them? Did you get anything out of them?

What would you change about them or add to them?

Thanks!!!

  1. I did not find any of the shows I went to helpful. I made the mistake of giving my email to several vendors and now I am perpetually on their emailing lists. I think wedding shows could be much more interesting if the organizers included an area for DIY things, like a hands on area to show brides how to do things such as invites, bouquets, favors, etc. I think a lot of brides would really appreciate this.Particularly with the increasing costs of the wedding industry, many brides are attempting a more DIY wedding. I think the shows need to be more intereactive. When I go to the shows, I can literally walk around for 5 minutes and see and hear everything I need. Then I either leave or hang around for a couple hours to see a dress show and the prize giveaways. I do love the dress shows, but I wish they would show a larger variety of dresses. All of the ones I went to only showed halter and strapless style dresses. I personally am going for a more modest look. The shows also tend to be very geared for summer/warmer month weddings. Most of the shows I have been to only have dresses that could be worn in warm months or your arms would freeze. Wine tastings would also be fabulous at these shows! ;)

Lydia-Ugh, yes totally agree with that. I made that mistake and I must get hundreds of emails a week. If I had known before hand I never would have given my email out. You expect shows like this to have legit vendors, so unsuspectingly you give out your email and from there it is just horrendous!

  2. The one we went to wasn't useful at all.

Just a note to brides - don't sign up for any contests or draws (unless you totally know it's from a local vendor you know), you'll be spammed to death. They can afford to give away stuff, because the lists of names and addresses are resold, and that's where they make big money.

  3. I don't find them useful at all. I actually find them pretty annoying. It's like they all seem to focus on how selfish or how bratty the bride is, and how whipped the guy is. It's just a highlight of a negative stereotype, IMO.

Considering this is a regular question on here, I think a show that shows brides how to have a lovely wedding while cutting costs would be a big hit. It could have segments on catering, decorations, cakes, etc...all with an eye to hosting a lovely, yet budget friendly wedding.

EDIT: For some reason, I thought you meant wedding TV shows! You mean the shows held at local hotels, etc? I didn't bother going to any because we had a destination wedding, and none of the vendors had anything pertinent to our type of wedding. I went to one for my cousin's wedding, and knew I didn't need to go to one for my own wedding.
