  1. it's built on island, but the sea every year grow up for few centimeters and at the long it could eat the city... So they're doing the "Mose", it's something like you can see in holland....


  2. It's not entirely on water.... there are many small islands in the lagoon. Many buildings though are built on a bed of wooden pylons driven into the ground. Over time these tree trunks have petrified and have created a bed of rock for churches and buildings. The ancient Venetians deforested all of the area north and north east in order to lay foundations for their city republic. Read more about for it is very interesting.... and all done with out the use of gas powered machines!!!
