  1. Telescreens, which are a technology mentioned in the book, were used to control citizens by monitoring their every move. Generally every truth was altered to suit the needs and requirements of the Party, and were usually done through other technologies like the newspaper presses and speakers. They used psychological science to brainwash members who were able to see the Party for what they were. such as when Winston entered the Ministry of Love. There, apart from psychologically brainwashing him, they also used electrical shocks (another technological aspect) to subdue and weaken him for brainwashing.
