It was left without wheels. Was a man of superhuman strength employed to move it?

  1. I have just heard that they are recruiting in Manchester & Liverpool for help in removing the aircraft, & 6 coaches are currently on route from the North West to Heathrow.

  2. I worked with the NTSB for a bit and they disassemble the airplane and go through every piece, then come to a conclusion as to what events took place to cause the uncontrolled flight into terrain. Then when that is accomplished the Boeing company and British Airways hires a dismantling crew to dispose of the wreckage.......And no that 777 won't fly no more...it's a done deal!!

  3. At 0900 on Sunday it hasn't been moved. Probably it will be lifted on airbags and wheeled dollies placed under the remaining strong points so it can be dragged to the hangar for full investigation.

  4. a crazy new piece of equipment called a crane. (sarcasm)

  5. DOH! A crane of course!

  6. santa clause came with his little elfs to clean it up so he put it on his little slay and know its at the north pole

  7. cranes lifted it up,straps were fitted around the belly, then it was lowered onto low loaders, and driven slowly to the hanger

  8. I suspect powerful jacks would be used to lift it then heavy duty wheeled or tracked trolleys positioned under it take the weight. All the trolleys would be cabled to a single point and then an aircraft tug (those machines that push the aircraft off their parking bays before taxying) would then pull the trolleys (and therefore the aircraft) to wherever they wanted to put it.  I have used this method before to remove a stricken aircraft from a runway.

  9. 3 low level trailers connected to a Central control and two cranes to lift the fuselage.

She is currently siting outside BAs maintenance hangers.

Look at BBC news for footage of how she was moved.

    PB

  10. the plane is still there and planes are having to take off over it

cranes are ready to move it though

  11. Rent a crane

  12. eventually will be craned out    as of now its still on the tarmac for further   inspections    it will be cannibalized  and tail number  retired

  13. Normally cranes would be used in conjunction with airbags under the fuselage to lift the aircraft onto a bogey or flatbed trolley for transportation. The strong points for lifting are usually around the wing stub area (where the wing joins the fuselage) this area appears to be severely damaged so it could prove a difficult task for the salvage team

  14. Watching it on the news the machinery was very reminiscent of the Thunderbirds. They used jacks and special lorries.

  15. The mighty plane crane

  16. Blue Peter came along with string and double sided sticky tape to fix it for EasyJet

  17. It will be lifted by a crane. To those here who say it will be cannibalized...That may not be the case. It would depend on the assessment made by the AOG team from Boeing. If it is more economically feasible to repair it rather than scrap it and wait for another plane to be built as a replacement, that is what will happen. Rest assured, if it is repaired it will be as new and quite safe to fly on.

  18. Cranes are there. Will they ever got it operable again or just use it for spares? Don't think I'd fancy flying on it.

  19. A crane?

  20. It hasn't been moved yet, they're still checking it over to figure out what happened.

  21. they might have pulled the plane apart and put the wings and other parts of the place onto the back of a truck

  22. Two large 500 tonne cranes, they have specialis contracters in to remove the craft, it is possibly a comlpete right of as the undercarrage pierced the wing root, (One of the main bits that holds the wing on) and so it would be a costly repair, besides this it upto the insurers to judge, just like if you and a smash in your car same thing but on a grander scale. The bits will either be, referb and used as spare, sold on as spares and the body possibly sold to training school, fligh sim, or eduction centre, if it doesnt fly again.
