How was the island "Philippines" created?

I just need to know how the Philippines was created. Coral? Mud? Volcanic? Please help! Remember, 10 points to the best one!

  1. I believe volcanic.  This is pretty much true for any islands in the "Ring of Fire" (around the perimeter of the Pacific Ocean).
