How was the quicksilver clothes company and skate surf etc started?

There was an australian surfer that was wearing a silver full body wet suit.  He was really good and quick so some guy came up with the name "quicksilver" based on how fast the guy was and his silver suit.  interesting huh.

Alright, don't trust wiki first of all, second of all.  Like most surf companies quicksilver was started as a way to make money for the shapers.  Selling boards the eventually grew because of their popularity and were recommended by other surfers.  Eventually sponsoring a few surfers and starting to make t-shirts as a means of more revenue.  This grew and grew and finally you have a household name, "Quicksilver".

I tried to start a buisness of my own but it fell, I didn't follow the rules of buisness =/.

Quicksilver, Roxy, Ripcurl, Billabong-all of thoses companies were started in Torquay, victoria, Australia. Not sure how long ago though
