How was the truman docterine apnd marshall plan relevant to the American policy of containment?

  1. As I recall, Truman's Plan was to contain Communism where ever the U.S. could.  I also believe that Truman wanted to do this with as little force as was possible.  However, this didn't always work out for him, e.g., Korea.

    The Marshall Plan was designed to feed Europe and keep the western part of Europe from succumbing to Communism which was on the march then.  It obviously worked and Europe recovered very well.  

    Currently, I think Europe (at let, the western part) occasionally forgets how we saved them from Communism.  But, that's another story, I guess.
