  1. I'm blind now.

  2. No pain at all. Only dryness and blurness for like one week then get perfect vision.

  3. It was the best thing I ever did....I was soooo nervous about this. I have had glasses since I was around 13 years old and contacts since 16...but no more... I can see very well as if I am wearing contacts with out them in. It is very surreal because i forget sometimes that i do not have my contacts in and then i have to remind myself... the worse part was the waiting around. I go the center a 11am and did not have the actual surgery until 12:15pm. the surgery was very weird, it lasted all of 10-15 minutes and I didn't feel a thing. The weirdest part was when the "flap" was removed and my vision went to 95% black. luckily the doctor told me that this would happen. after the flap was made the laser has to do it's job and it smelled like something burning, again the doctor told me this. the doctor was so wonderful i would soo recommend the lasik plus clinic in towson, md. to anyone who is think about getting this done. If anyone wants help deciding if you should get this done, I will tell you at this point it it so worth the nervousness and cost, just go and do it, you will not regret it..

  4. I had LASIK performed when I was in the Navy, so I'm fortunate that cost wasn't a barrier.  For me, it was a great procedure.  I was very nearsighted (myopic) with a large amount of astigmatism.

There are some things to know about refractive surgery:

    1) Not everyone is a good candidate for the surgery.  Check with an experience eye surgeon (ophthalmologist) who will do measurements to determine if you would be a good surgical candidate.

    2) There are limits to how much the surgery can correct.

    3) The vast majority of folks get very good vision afterwards, but some don't get corrected to 20/20, and very rarely, there can be worse vision or very bothersome symptoms after the procedure.

    4) Your vision should be stable for a while before the surgery.  If your vision is still changing, you should wait.

    Hope this helps.  Good luck.

  5. My father is an optician and he did it to many people, he used to discourage it a couple of years ago saying that it wasnt necessary and u might catch an infection that might destroy ur eye but now he does it alot and encourages it since technology on the subject has improved alot , its isnt as much bloody and side effects are really little when an experienced doctor does it right .

Id say go for it but pick a good doctor and a clean hospital to do it to avoid any infections

  6. Lasik eye surgery is very safe nowadays. My cousin got her dental implants and Lasik surgery in India by a company called Indian Health Guru Consultants. The Price for dental and Lasik surgery is very less in India. She paid 25% of the price she was quoted in America.

Indian Health Guru Consultants is very famous in India They arrange Dental surgery, jaw surgery, Lasik eye surgery, Dental Implants etc for foreign patients in India. I read a lot about them in the Newspapers and magazines- about their patient stories.

They arrange financing for USA, Canadian, UK and other international patients who plan to have surgery abroad for low cost, as dental and eye surgery is not covered by insurance. They also have photos pasted of their International patients. You can checkout their website. There are huge cost savings. As a doctor I personally believe that surgery can be easily handled in India, as the quality of healthcare available In India is simply best in the world. The surgeons are USA/UK trained and facilities are 5 star.

  7. I'm no eye doctor but have had the more invasive LASEK eye surgery -  because of having thin corneas.

I found the whole experience to be no problem at all really.

The preop info provided by the consultants at the opticians (not hospital) was superb. They answered all my questions and more. The op itself is little more than 10 minutes for both eyes to be done. No pain during the op.

Post op is more controlled for want of a better word with LASEK as I had to wear contact lenses for 4 days. These did become uncomfortable after 2 days but I had been given drops to anaesthatise my eyes if they got sore.

Once the lenses came out my eyes improved gradually - as they do with this treatment (LASIK is more instantaneous). Apart from a personal problem of dry eyes that I had - rectified with gel eye drops - my vision was superb after 2 weeks.

I have been wearing glasses since the age of 19 and at 41 I have now had absolutely perfect vision for over a year now.

I cannot recommend this process enough. The technology is so advanced now that the problem cases are I believe very few and far between - the stats are given as a very worst case scenario.

    Go for it!
