No, institute of marriage should not be removed rather the process of religious marriage should be go & only legally valid form of marriage should be by Civil form under the Special Marriage Act, 1954. In such civil form of marriage, religion, caste, creed, nationality, colour, state etc of any person will not be any issue for the necessary valid condition for the marriage. The only grounds as we find for any marriage under this Act is the Marriageable age of the parties 18years for bride & 21 years for groom, Non-marital status of both, fit mental status for both & both are not related to each other within the prohibited relationship. This Act of 1954 was enacted in lines to bring uniform civil code in India but because of Political reasons this Act could not find popularity in masses. The very fact any marriage performed under this Act doesn't require any sort of utterance of mantras or such other practices etc as happens in religious marriages such as Hindu Marriages, no priest is required for its solemnization as this marriage is solemnized before the duly appointed Marriage Officer whom hold a high government post in the District usually the District Commissioner, where such marriage take place in any Indian State. Such marriages are properly registered & the parties are issued a valid marriage certificate which is proof of their valid marriage. Considering these legal factors & economically such marriages cost mere just few rupees which almost every one can afford, the question of lavish, costly marriage as we see in religious form is not seen. The marriage under this Act is performed during the normal official working hours & no late night affairs as in religious marriage. The maximum time taken for performing this marriage before the marriage officer takes only 5 minutes & add another 5 minutes for obtaining the marriage certificate so any couple can take a half an hour day off go & get married before the Marriage officer under this Act, come back, attend their official work & keep their themselves free for their Honeymoon Golden night exclusively for both. Now say how about this form of marriage? I know you at this age will say it’s not for you, but let it be for your children or other younger generation people.

You may abolish marriage as an institution. But, men and women will still live together, with or without a marriage. They may choose their partners or the parents may do that for them, on certain consideration. That consideration could either be caste or money or eduction. How are you going to stop this consideration?

Because we are not animals where marriages are not registered.  We have to follow some rules and procedures in civil society. Pl dont jump from marriage to religion to politics.  There is no connectivity.  If you are married, follow the rules, be faithful with spouse, take care of children, be good neighbour, be good citizens.  Other things will take care of themselves.  They have no connectivity whatsoever with individuals marrying.  Marriages are not made legal there will be anarchy and there will not be any difference between animals and us. Then institution will collapse, society and culture will perish and country will collapse.
