  1. Well, to connect batteries in series you connect all positive ends to the negative of the next battery. (Like in a flash light).

This increases the voltage to the total "sum" of all batteries connected. Say two D cells = 3 volts  Two 12v car batteries = 24 volts. How you do it depends on the batteries used! If you are using small batteries there are "cell" holders designed for it, if you are using car batteries you strap the positive to negative and "chain" the cells. One battery on each end is used for ONE connection to your device. (Negative on one end of chain, Positive on other end of the chain.)

To connect batteries in parallel, all positive ends are connected together and all negative ends are connected together. This leaves the SAME voltage of each cell but makes more current available.

Tell us what KIND of batteries we can tell you what to use.

  2. in very simple words lets get on to the difference between series and parallel conction

series connection: u remove a battery and u will not get an output

parallell connection: u remove a battery then also u will get the output.

to connect batteries in series: ex three batteries,

connect them back to back make wire connections from the positive terminal of first battery and negative terminal of the third battery.

parallel connection:connect the positive terminals of the battery with a single wire and name it as positive terminal, similarly connect the negative terminal of the battery with a single wire and name it as negative terminal.
