  1. probably a combo of hydrogen, electric.

  2. The problem is not in technology it is with will power and the 5% of the human beings who run this planet still not being bothered to allocate time and resources to develop alternatives and save their future generations from global warming and even worse consequences. The scientific community needs money and passion to solve this one and at present both are in short supply.

  3. The basic necessities of life are food, clothes and shelter. If mankind can learn to focus on only these three basic needs, and forgoes it's thirst for other luxuries, the energy crisis will diminish. Nature works on an equilibrium. If mankind learns to maintain that equilibrium, nature alone will sustain mankind for millenniums to come. This would also necessitate controls on how much mankind reproduces etc...

  4. Develop and use alternate, renewable sources of energy. Solar energy is unlimited, and you can use it for all your energy needs if we have efficient and economic conversion devices. Present solar cells are very inefficient and costly. But research and development can increase its efficiency and reduce cost. Similarly, wind energy, energy from the ocean, and hydrogen are renewable sources which can replace the present fossil fuels like petrol or coal.

  5. Sounds like it to me... Ya answered your oun question...

  6. There are many different kinds of "fuel", and not all are dwindling.

    * Fossil fuels like natural gas, oil and coal are finite, with oil expected to run out first.

    * Nuclear fuel, uranium, is also finite, but other countries like France use "breeder reactors" to make more fuel from the nuclear process.

    * biomass is a renewable fuel.  It could be in the form of wood waste or agricultural waste or other organic waste being used to generate electricity, or for heating.  As long as it is used sustainably (don't burn more than you grow) it won't run out.

    * Renewable energy sources like hydropower, wind, geothermal and solar can fill many of the gaps.  Most have been used to generate electricity.  Solar has been used to power cars, either directly or through solar charging of battery/electric cars.  Solar can also be used to heat homes.

So my answer is shift our economy from one based around finite resources to one based around renewables.  Continue researching how to make them as efficient as possible.
