  2. The Philippines don't really maintain there boats and they over pack them with people. That's the cause of ship wrecks.

  3. In my view the ferry should have never left port. Ferries are not seaworthy enough to survive a typhoon. There was not point at all in risking the lives of the passengers, crew and the vessel.

  4. Well, first off, it's sort of a bad idea to sail through a typhoon. I may be a novice captain, but it strikes me as extremely poor judgement sailing through such a storm. As far as any second reason, do you really need more reasons than the first?

  5. If a ship is maintained, they can last 100 years or more.

    But often (like cars) the owners go cheap and NOT maintain it.
