  1. The Austrian royal family no longer exist since Charles I, who was the last Emperor of Austria. He reigned as Charles I as Emperor of Austria and Charles IV as King of Hungary from 1916 until 1918, when he "renounced participation" in state affairs, but did not abdicate. He spent the remaining years of his life attempting to restore the monarchy until his death in 1922.

The Habsburgs did not formally abandon any hope of returning power until Otto von Habsburg, Emperor Charles' eldest son, renounced all claims to the throne. He is still the head of the house of Habsburg today. Austria is now a republic, and royal and noble titles are not legally recognized in Austria.

  2. Sorry Vincent, but Austria does not have a ruling royal family. They were forced out at the end of WWI. If there is any wealth there it would be as private citizens now

  3. The Austrian *Imperial* Family does still exist, they simply do not reign anymore. The Imperial Family is enormous, there are at least 80 archdukes in the theoretical line of succession to the Austro-Hungarian throne as well as many, many archduchesses (wives and daughters of archdukes).

Most of these individuals, the Habsburgs, earn income independently of their former imperial status, either as investment bankers, politicians, estate managers, you name it.

Most of the wealth of the Archhouse of Austria was declared government property after their exile at the end of WW1, so it is difficult to determine who has what kind of wealth.

Recently, however, Bran Castle in Romania was recently given to Archduke Dominic of Austria, Prince of Tuscany, who useds the name Dominic (von) Habsburg professionally. He received it however via a claim through the Romanian Royal Family (his mother was Princess Ileana of Romania). Therefore this did not constitute Habsburg wealth.

There are also some Habsburgs in South America (Uruguay, I believe) who are wealthy through their maternal family... The Princely and Ducal House of Arenberg, but again I have never seen numbers for them or any other Habsburgs.
