How well Brandon Inge will play at second base? Experts pose questions
The Detroit Tigers’ talented and experienced infielder Brandon Inge is lately making some news with his possible position shift to second-base.
Tigers' current team manager Jim Leyland has recently described in the media that Brandon should be playing at second-base instead playing at the infield position.
According to Leyland’s statement,
“It's pretty interesting. I want to give it a fair shot. I don't want Inge to say, I didn't get a fair shot. Inge is in great shape. He's stronger. He's in a good frame of mind, He just wants to play. If he's the best player, I'll play him. I love Brandon Inge. I hope Brandon Inge hits about .260 with 15 to 18 home runs. He's going to have to, that’s what I'm going to have to figure out. I'll be putting Inge or Raburn in at the end of an exhibition game instead of a kid.”
As soon as this news broke in the media, different sources started reporting that Leyland’s strategic changes are now making some sense. Earlier, some two to three weeks ago, within the Tigers’ management, this was speculated as manager Leyland wants some basic strategic changes in the roster despite already making a final call upon the 40-man roster. Leyland somehow assured that he will not be making any potential change in the roster for a position shift.
However, now it is looking like the Tigers’ management has taken an about-turn on their previous assurances to the players. For general baseball viewers, this should not be confused with how a player cannot be moved to one particular position to a different place. Every player should be playing on different playing positions, but on a broader perspective, this can only be conveyed through a reliable baseball experts’ view as no baseball player is built for playing at every position as this creates many flaws in their special skills, which not many can understand.
Here experts, on Brandon’s second-base potential playing position, are divided on certain things. Some say it will enhance his game and some say this will not help the Detroit Tigers change his position from infield to second-base. However, some experts see through Tigers’ perspective as to whatever position any player plays, as long as his team gets benefit from it, he should be playing at that particular position without any worry.
