How well did the Twins fair in letting Torri Hunter leave?

They have Denard Span in right tearing it up, Gomez (so-so but with a lot of upside to him), and Young in left (heating up lately).

  1. Dont forget, they let Santana go too. And they are doing well

  2. The Twins ALWAYS  come out smelling like roses after they let a big name/ big money player go.  They have probably the best farm system in baseball. It seems like no matter what the talking heads predict in the beginning of the season, come Sept, the Twins are in the hunt for the play-offs.

  3. Too early to tell. The contract the Angels gave Hunter looks a bit too much, especially since he'll be 38 by the end of it. However, he is currently doing much better then Gomez. Gomez is as talented as anyone and if he pans out, it will look very good for the Twins. And don't forget that the Twins got a couple draft picks, which they usually use intelligently.

  4. Hunter got a contract that was unbelievable. There was no way the Twins should have considered paying him anywhere near the money that the Angels did. He had his best year last year and will never come close to that again. His defense has deminished(even though he is still great) and he is an easy out when you really need an out. I have seen him hit onto more rally killing double plays than I can remember any player hitting into. Sure we would be a better team with him out there in place of Gomez this year but I'd rather have Span in ceneter and Cuddyer in right. That's the future. Peace

  5. We are doing just fine without Torii and Johan and some of the others we've lost along the way. It was very sad to see them go but what can ya do? It's also a bummer with Neshek and Cuddyer being out for the rest of the season, but like you said, Span is a beast! I'm glad we have him, although the situation with Cuddy is too bad. Gomez will be hot hot hot one day and Delmon is finally showing us what he's got and I'm happy that all of these players that have come in this season are contributing majorly to our team. Brian Buscher, Randy Ruiz and all the others I've failed to mention as well. I agree with Amazing Baldinio or whatever his name is...we've got an amazing farm system, I would say that we've got the best there is. We've got some great home grown talent and come September, I'm not going to be surprised if we do make it to the Play Offs. I'm not gonna be happy at all if we don't though.
