Question:

How well do over-the-door pull up bars work?

Are they sturdy, and do they damage the door/frame/wall? Also, I've looked at some and most say they support up to 300lbs, but how much does a doorway support? I weigh about 230, so has anyway around that weight tried one of these bars, and if so, any problems?

  1. Do you live in a victorian house or in a newly build apartment?

Are the walls plaster or bricks?

How long is a piece of string at your place? at mine is 3 feet.

  2. Im a  250lb weightlifter  ,I have the 1 that just hooks on the door (not the s***w-in type)  had only 1 problem. When I first put it on the door I didnt push it on far enough and the thing smacked me in the forehead HAH! I was also drunk...hmmmm then again I use a backpack with 60lb weights ,so its pushing over 300

If you have a crappy bedroom interior-skinnyframe dont use it or reinforced it because theyre only held up by small tack nails

If you dont want to spend alot of money just get a length of board some eightpenny (big) nails and nail the board across the doorway into the studs
