How well do the durahide sofas hold up? I've heard they can become hard over time?

I bought a durhide sofa and am now having second thoughts. I worry it will be harder to clean than leather or it will become brittle sooner.

We had durahide couch and chair that lasted for more than 15 years without doing anything special.  I don't recall it ever getting brittle, and we live in an arid area.
