  1. When being verbally attacked by someone, the instinct is to yell back to try and get your point across. However, it's generally more effective to talk slowly and calmly to the agressor rather than adding fuel to the fire.

  2. amazingly well...

  3. There is no reason to rationalize hostility directed towards oneself. The only reason to rationalize hostility is when one is the hostile person and even then there is no rationalizing hurting another. the best you can hope for is that the apprehension that you have formed in the other person's mind was merely out of words and not deeds and only meant as a warning and not a threat. Even then it hurts you to think of how you hurt the other person if only for that moment.

  4. Dear Alice,

You remain calm, cool and collected hon.  Remember when facing hostility, the person that is hostile will only become more hostile if you persist on a subject.

Just keep in control of your emotions at all times, remain alert and on guard, and be the authoritative figure in the process.

There is a way to rationalize, just calm people down, and explain things.   If you find that you cannot rationalize with a person, then just walk away. That's the best thing to do.

Hope this has helped you my friend.

    Have a good week.

  5. Conscious and considered rationality pretty goes out of the window in the face of immediate hostility. This isn't to say that we act randomly or stupidly but that there are some moments when our rational self takes too long to decide.

Imagine if I was walking through the forest and I came across a panther, hungrily looking at me. It would do know good for me to start a logical argument from premises to conclusions like:

P1: All panthers I have experienced are dangerous to my well-being.

P2: This animal I see is definitely a panther

    P3: I value my well-being.

P4: The best way the escape a panther is by running away.

    P5: ....etc...etc....

We need to just act on our trusted instinct and intuition sometimes when facing hostility. It's a gift most humans need and rely on.

  6. Sometimes brilliantly and other times very very very awkwardly specially in absurd situations.

  7. depends on my mental state...
