I would like to know how much alike/different the Death Note manga and anime are?

I've watched all the anime episodes even the director's cut(not the movies YET). And I just started reading the manga. I know the manga has more info on whats going on and all.

I would like to know if it be ok to start reading the manga from were the anime left off, or would I mis sometime? And what vol. of the manga would that be?

I'll mostly read all the manga (I really liked the anime) but I would just like to know were I'll get to the different ending and how different the story is up till the end.I know he's not present to be as crazy in the manga as he is in the anime, what elce in different?

Thank You for the help.

  1. Hay Death Note!!May friend loved it she even has a wallet  w/ DN on it she bought it for $40.00

  2. The manga and anime are mostly alike, but some things are slightly different.Remember the episode where L was on the roof top during the thunderstorm before he died? That's not in the manga. You can start from where the anime left off.All they kinda did was maybe add some stuff and mix things around but you'll be fine!

  3. Pretty much all the same, but with minor scenes in the anime that weren't in the manga (When L was on the roof) and the ending.

In the anime, Light escapes the warehouse and runs off, only to be killed by Ryuk. Plus, Mikami stabs himself with a pen.

While in the manga, mikami is just arrested and dies in prison(not shown) and Ryuk kills Light right there in front of everyone. Then it cuts to a year later and Near is the new L and followers of Kira are gathering for some event, then it ends. And there is a one-shot manga which takes place 3 years after the end, but i'm not going to ruin it for you. You can read it at onemanga.com
