How well does the "national do not call list" work?

im getting tired of telemarketers and 800/866 numbers calling my cell almost every day. will the national do not call list work? and is it free and safe? also, can you provide a link to the site? i tried googling it, but there are a lot of different ones, and i dont know which one is the official one.

  1. I have found it works pretty well.  At least you will know after registering that anyone calling you is not someone you want to do business with any way since they ignored the list.

Considering it's run by the Federal Trade Commission, whose enforcement proceedings are not made public, we'll never know, but I'm extremely skeptical.  Republicans are extremely anti-consumer and pro-corporate, and many of them consider "do not call" to be an infringement on the "rights" of corporations as "citizens" of the U.S. to freedom of speech.  We've seen how political appointments have undermined the EPA's infringement on the "right" of corporations to pollute, the FCC's infringement on the "right" of corporations to monopolize the media, the FDA's infringement on the "right" of corporations to pass worthless and dangerous foods, drugs, and snake oil off on us, etc., etc.

  3. I receive a LOT less calls than I did before the list started.  It's free and you have to remember to reregister every five years.

    www.donotcall.gov   is the national list.  You're state may have an additional list too.
