Can someone give me an example of an interpreters salary for the following institutions

European Union (3 languages incl. English)

Working for the United Nations (3 incle Englsih)

If I am working for the UN, would I have to live in the USa or would I just be going there once a month or so , becuae I live in Ireland

If I am working as an interpreter for the EU, would I get to go to places like Kyoto, in Japan, coz the European Union often has meetings there for the Kyoto protoco, and would I get to go to the UN, because the EU often has meetings over there

  1. To work with EU means travelling to many countries that are members which could also bring you to Japan and US on official business trips.

  2. The UN has offices all over the world. Individual offices recruit their own staff. You would need to be based wherever the job might be.  If you worked for the EU, you would probably be based in Brussels. Some interpreters get to travel, some don't; it depends on the job.

The UN posts jobs, including for interpreters, are listed here, and pay scales can be found there:

You will have to show that your language abilities and interpreting skills have been certified by the appropriate institutions -- they won't take your word for it when you say you can work in a language other than your native one.
