  1. I'm really sorry, but to be perfectly honest, it takes weeks to train for something like a 5k.  I don't want to discourage you; you should still go for it, but don't expect much.  I've been training for fall XC at the beginning of June, and I'm just now starting to get more in decent shape.

However, what you can do to make the race the best you can with the given circumstances:

-Get a full night's sleep each night from now till Saturday

-eat healthy.  have a balanced meal for each meal.  pasta with meat sauce, lettuce, fruit, and milk is a great runner's diet.

-stretch.  stretch before and after your runs, and do some light stretching before you go to bed.

-hydrate yourself.  drink plenty of water every day, and not just when you are running.  drink some gatorade too, as it has stuff that water doesn't.

on the morning of the run, make sure you eat at least 3 hours before your race, and don't eat too much or you will cramp.  drink some water and gatorade until about 30-45 minutes before your race.  finally, go to the bathroom 10-15 minutes before (if you can), and then when the gun goes off, pace yourself and give it your best shot.

  2. If it is this Saturday...It will do you no good at all because your body will be exhausted. If you had about 2-3 weeks then i'd say you would have some more endurance by then. I would shake it up and for push ups do 3 sets of 25...sit ups do 3 sets of 30...going right, left, then straight. jumping jacks are good for cardio and gettting your heart rate up but you won't get into alot of shape by doing them.

  3. run more than 1 mile so when your 5k race comes, it will feel like nothing.

  4. All of that will basically get you...

    in my pants. fast.

  5. well its a good work out but you need to build more stamina not speed. a 5k is like 3 and 1/2 miles. so i would suggest running a little farther everyday until the 5k
