  1. Well, they were both female rulers in a mostly male-dominated world.  And they were both very shrewd and wiley.  However, Elizabeth was a monarch in her own right, whereas Catherine was just the Queen Mother, and however much influence she had with her sons, she could never be the supreme authority like Elizabeth was.
