  1. Anasazi part of the territory eventually called home by the Pueblo.  genetic relations are argued over but there is a good chance that at least some genetics are shared and that others came from a migration into the area from an outside group.  There are cultural traits that seem to have passed from Anasazi to Pueblo including religious and architectural.  The Anasazi society came under great pressure after climatic change in the area and there is even evidence of cannibalism (see excavations reports of Cowboy Wash).  The population centers emptied and the people dispersed across the open territory or were absorbed into other groups.

  2. same region?

  3. The Anasazi predated the Pueblo by many many years.  As far as I can tell they are only related by being from the same region or area of the country.

The Pueblo Indians at Taos, NM disclaim any association with the Anasazi.  They say the Pueblo Tribe has always been there and that the Anasazi were actually Pueblos.

  4. It is believed the Hopi may be what is left.

  5. They are one of the ancestors to modern Pueblo.  (other groups can also claim ancestry)  Anasazi is considered an offensive name by some because it means "enemy ancestor" and nowadays they are often referred to as "ancestral pueblo" instead.
