The Founding fathers were just that  they founded the democracy.

Before the founding fathers implemented the new democratic government we were still being opressed by the English Monarchy

  3. England was governed  by an aristocratic Parliament.  The colonials were English citizens who could not vote for members of Parliament.  Of course, at first the US Congress was elected by eligible voters who were white men who were property owners.  The English and American system has undergone many reforms since then.

The early Americans did not speak of democracy  but of a republic, meaning rule by the people.  This was the term used by most countries when a monarchy was overthrown.  Napoleon who was really a dictator was considered a republican.  When the extremes of the French revolution discredited the term republic, we began to use thee term democracy, which is what Jefferson envisioned.
