How were you punished at school?

I was punished by teachers in many times at school. When I was in Grade 5 my class teacher used 3 rulers to punish us. She had bound 3 rulers together with rubber bands and she used it to beat on our hands. She took his time to teach us as well as beat us. How she beat us was take our hands and beat 2-3 times hard on our palms . I was not beaten for first 2-3 months but I scared by seeing how other students were beaten . When she started beating once at least 1/4 of the class got beat. One day she had started beating , then she also came near me and told that I had also not done home work as she told. Then she took my left hand and beat my palm very hard using her ruler ( 3 rulers bound together) 2 times. My palm become red for 3-4 hours. That day I understood how pain it is . I still believe she was a good teacher, but I never agree with his beating manner because she beat more than 10000 times for whole the class in that year. Do you agree with me? How were u punished at school?

were punished at my school by getting written or getting asd and teachers shouldn't hit students

I was paddled by teachers for minor infractions. I don't think an adult should ever be allowed to hit a child for any reason. It is child abuse.

well i kinda agree but i dnt think teachers should ever hit students or hurt them in any way.we were punished by geting writen up or sent to iss or dap

With in class detention.  I always have disagreed with beatings from anyone.

And she was never turned it for corporal punishment?

I had to eat lunch with the principal

I personally wasn't punished, but I remember a couple of my sisters were.  My older sister carved her name on the bathroom wall at school, and had to see the principal.  She got a spanking from the paddle.

I remember permission slips were brought home for mom to sign, whether or not they will allow spanking as part of disclipline for each one of us.  For two of us sisters she marked "no", and the other two she marked "yes".  

For those younger generations, let me tell you...kids rarely talked back to the teachers.  Nobody wanted to visit the principal.  To do that was a nail biting experience.  We didn't worry so much about what mom and dad would do, our first thought was what the principal would do.  

I don't know if I agree with this or not.  It's sort of a catch 22.  Maybe for some, this type of disclipine is best.  For other types of people it can prove very traumatic.  It would have been for me, but sometimes it might take a little bit more for another to understand respect.  It's really tough to answer.

I agree kids should be punished but not that extreme.. yeah i understand that sometimes a firm hand is needed but never by a teacher.. thats just wrong and mostly its more embarassing for the child then painful..

Late 1970's junior school England. A ruler across the back of my hand. Not sure what I did to deserve this! Ouch!!

I just get detention. If a teacher hit me they wouldnt be able to walk by the time I was done with them.

I live in Singapore. The law says that teacher are not to hurt the pupils. So no beating of hands is allowed. The teacher can beat pupil's hand, but that teacher will soon get fired and sued to court. And she would be on the next day's newspaper headlines!

I think that is barbaric and disgusting. I don't really know what punishment was used when I was in school during the 60's- I never got into trouble! But, I absolutely don't agree with corporal punishment! If a teacher had ever touched my children or now, my grandchildren- you'd better be holding me back!!!

thats how it was. I was never hit, by the time I was at school it no longer happened but I was a good kid. I got caught putting a note in my desk and the teacher humiliated me by making me read it out aloud. This teacher did not like me and I hATED him
