  1. It takes a while and costs a bunch.

You'll need (1) ground school, (2) flight instruction, (3) pass a flight test by an FAA designated examiner.

Ground school can be had for little cost if you go to a night class.

Flight instruction now runs as high as $93 per hour including the aircraft rental. You'll need around 20 hours of dual time at that rate and about another 15 to 20 hours of solo practice at about $30 to $40 per hour aircraft rental only.

These numbers are very rough estimates, and can go even higher if fuel costs continue to rise.

All told you'd be wise to make it a project for summer time. Expect to take 2 or 3 months.

  2. go to any of those airports, I am sure an instuctor is hanging around there on the weekends somewhere/time.

It takes a while to get it... also depending on what kind... there are now two private licenses, one that lets you fly locally (no long distance) and I think it takes 20 hours of flight time (you only want to do 2-3 hours a day at first MAX...  plus a couple days at least of ground time.  The full private license takes a min of 40 hours before you solo - longer if you are not catching on that quick or not yet comfortable to take the in flight test.  the license comes from the FAA... when you finish your flight and ground test, and a flight physical (pretty basic medical checkup) the paper work will be sent in with the test results and you'll be mailed a license

So it would take a month or two minimum to get the license and that is really pushing it...

Go to the airport and try to make friends with some pilots.  When I did it, I found a group of pilts that would fly to another airport just to eat breakfast on Saturday mornings... they used to let me tag along and get some flight time! :)

With the price of fuel it is not cheap...  70-100 or more per hour for plane and sometimes another 40-50 for the instructor pilot.  Many people (my guess 20% are ready to take the flight exam after 40 hours of flight training, but most do take longer...

  3. Just ask your nearest  terrorist.

  4. TERRORIST!!!!! Your gonna fly into the White House or even worse you will crash into my house...no1 answer his question

  5. Go to:

    www.beapilot.com

    www.aopa.org/learntofly/

Both of those will give you some basic info on beginning flight lessons.

Just some general info based on flying in the US:

    1. It takes most people on average about 6-10 months to obtain their certificate based on how many lessons you can fit into your schedule and budget.

    2. You must be 16 to solo a powered aircraft and 17 to obtain your private pilot's certificate so you're OK there.

    3. You must complete a ground school course (either in person, online, or on DVD's and pass a written knowledge exam.

    4. You must receive a minimum of 40 hours of instruction from a certified flight instructor. Most people take more like 60-70 hours before they are ready.

    5. Have some money. Right now a private license in the US will run about $6,000 or so with everything.
