  1. about 5 5/8in.

  2. The dimensions of a so called 1"X6" is actually 3/4"X5-1/2",

to get a true 1"X6" you would need to go to a mill shop or mill it yourself.

  3. The rough cut dimensions are 1" x 6"  the board is then milled (surfaced) on all sides. This will remove 1/4" on the edges and 1/4 on each flat to give a finished size of 3/4x 5 1/2 inches.  A 2x4 is the same method.  Recently the finished sizes are on 1/2 inch when I started framing and wood working the dimensions were slightly larger  (+1/8")  then a 2x4 was 1 5/8 x 3 5/8 inches now it's 1 1/2x 3 1/2 inches.  This saves a tree by letting the mill get more usable pieces from the same size tree.

  4. generally, 3/4" X 5 3/4", unless it is very old, and then it would measure out to the full dimension

  5. About 5 1/2".

  6. 5.5 inches http://mistupid.com/homeimpr/lumber.htm
