  1. New England's Loon Mt. and Killington Mtns.  trails are 60 yards at the tightest on the challenging slopes and 100 yards wide nearing  the lower half to give you room to choose your next trail to turn down.  Easy level slopes are narrower where no great speed is built up and if you fly into the woods it's not fatal.  Rule of thumb.  The faster the trail the wider it better be. The faster you go the more space you eat up trying to turn and more is needed if the course is icy.  Colorado Rocky Mtns.  Have even a few wider that.  But a lot ot steeper.

  2. The average beginner slope is a lot wider than other slopes. They can be as wide as 150' depending on the mountain. Most of your other slopes average about 20' wide. (The average width of the snow-grooming machines is 10'...so 20' means the snowcat can groom in two passes.)
