How widely accepted are American Express cards in Buenos Aires Argentina?

If you plan on staying in decent hotels and eating in decent restaurants, you shouldn't have a problem.  However, many of the "mom and pop" stores/restaurants do not accept AMEX and many also don't accept Visa or Mastercard.  Some stores will raise the purchase price if you are using a credit card to cover their overhead for the % they have to pay to the credit cards.
