  1. The team might go super aggressive with the strategy and try to aim for P1 with a very light fuel load. Ofcourse, he'll be starting from 11th then, but with a light fuel, he should be able to overtake a couple of cars in the first lap or two. I have a feeling McLaren might opt for a 3 stopper. Magny Cours pitlane is shorter than other circuits', and if you remember in 2004, Michael did a 4 stopper and still won! I don't think he'll win, but a podium is a real possibility especially if the traffic favours the Brit and allows him to maximise his 3 stop strategy.

But then again, Paul S might be right.

  2. hmmm well i can see him finishing a solid 5th, France usually doesnt hold many surprises so i expect itll be a boring race. As for the championship, The Ferrari is just an all round better car and Mclaren have taken a step backwards this year (its interesting to note that they build a good car once every two years lol) so i expect he'll finish 3rd or 2nd

  3. he should improve. learning from his mistakes. if he avoided his unnecessary mistakes last year he could be the champion today.

  4. Who knows, he may do it again, or better it by doing it in the formation  lap!

Jokes apart, Ferrari will come back strongly. last race their performance was not up to the mark, in qualification and in the race. and it went bad to worse.

Starting with 10 place penalty, Hamilton needs to pull off a miracle to finish in the podium, with resurgent BMW's and the Ferraris, It is hard for Lewis. may be 1-pit stop strategy could work for him.

Coming up is French Grand prix. Remember the December of 2007, his Mercedes-Benz was confiscated for speeding (at 198 kmph) in French motorway.

  5. well he's either going to come storming up through the field and finish high in the points, or, he'll come storming up the field, make a mistake and crash. Nothing is predictable in F1. If it was I would have made a bet on the Monaco results and been a millionaire by now:)

  6. He'll have to take a few risks, especially at the start, it's not possible to predict whether they will pay off or not.

His race will be all about strategy and starting from 11th and down he can choose his own.

I think he will be wary of making any more mistakes and won't be taking any silly risks.

My money is on him having a great race and a solid result in the end.

However if both Ferraris and both BMWs don't falter in either race or qualifying he's looking at 5th place for his efforts at best.

But of course, lets just wait and see.

  7. He'll probabley get a point, but after finishing 2nd again in this years championship will rue the day when he made such a c**k up in the canadian grand prix.

  8. Who knows? He can be sublime, he can be ridiculous, he can be a hero he can be a zero, let's hope he just provides some entertainment one way or the other as a Ferrari procession will just be a snoozefest otherwise.

  9. Well he should ask Raikkonen. I've actally lost count of how many times he had to start from 10 places back, made it to the top 3, and then his engine gave up.

Joking aside, his incident at Canada was careless, but if he doesn't qualify on the front row, he never usually wins a race.

  10. first he will try to take pole in qualifying to start from 11 position then he will try to storm pass as many as he can but the problem for him would be his team mate and BMW - Ferrari's cars he might end up crashing another car

  11. While it could be argued he's shown himself to be prone to lapses in concentration, it would seem likely that he will be focused on getting the best result possible in France.  But the reality of this is that the goal will be to get in the points.

Being pushed back 10 spots on grid will be a major problem.  As bad as that is, the reality is, because of that, he will not be pursuing the pole:  if he were to qualify on pole, he would be in 11th spot, with a race strategy designed for a car at the front of the grid, where all the cars around him will be set to run much deeper (and then, the possibility that he could aim for pole and still miss it by a couple spots).

So, when Q3 comes, he will be running heavier than others, and will probably qualify somewhere in the 6-8 range, putting him somewhere around 16-18th on grid.  While he will pick off a few cars on his first lap, it will then get tougher and tougher, and it is likely he will get up to 10th or 11th after the first exchange of pit stops.  With a little luck and good strategy on his part, he'll make it into the points (maybe as high as 6th?).  Doing that would be a major victory for him.

The keys for Lewis to have this level of success will be: 1) qualifying as high as possible in Q3 while running a heavy load of fuel, and 2) being able to make up as much ground as possible off the line and in the first few laps of the race while also on that heavy fuel load (because the longer he is near the back, the further away those top 8 become).

  12. F1 is alot about skill, and almost even more so about luck...Hamilton will do fine, he just made a mistake this time, after all he is only a DEMI-god, not a true god with all supernatural powers, so you got to still give some hope that he is going to be Hamilton, that is the only way I can put it, Hamilton will only push like Hamilton, and from what we saw last year, that is quite the push...He will do well in the next race, but Kimi might have him beat in France, GO KIMI!!!!

  13. I cound't stop laughing after he crashed into kimi i must have replayed that a good 12-15 times. Go Massa!

  14. it would be good for his career and his detractors if he would make it to the podium, starting from below 13 place in the grid isn't his forte and he would surely loose his cool as in previous races and may ruin his race big time
