Question:

How will Hukou(registered permanent residence) affect me?

I am a fresh college graduate in China. I haven't transfered my Hukou to a company because currently I work under a temporarily contract. A teacher from my previous college called me, she told me to go through a procedure to transfer my Hukou to a company or human resources market management department of my work city, and it will affect my future job if I don't do it. But one friend tells me that Hukou doesn't affect one person too much. What the teacher actually concerns is the employment rate of her students rather than my internet/benefit, because the employment rate is linked up with her bonus. What is the truth? Can someone give me an idea?

  1. 你要到中文yahoo去问!~兄弟,你发错区了!~嘿嘿!~

  2. Here it is:

I was born and raised in Nanjing, so I have a urban Hukou of Nanjing City, when I entered Nanjing University, my Hukou was automatically transfered to the University I was, When I graduated and signed a contract with a company, it means I could be permanent resident of this city, usually it only works for degree holders, doesn't include associate holder. The you come to the local Police station to get a procedure, make you become the permanent resident of this city.

What you should worry is not Hukou, but your archive------my archive is still in the human resource market, it was transfered to the market after I graduated, if you don't apply for permanently preservation after 2 years of your graduation, the archive will be returned where you came from, aka, your birth place on your Hukou, I was born in NJ and got college education in NJ, so it doesn't affect me, but it affect outsiders of NJ pretty much.
