the day was may 2nd 2008 when I broke my elbow from skateboarding. now my parents said that I can NOT skateboard anymore. I've been trying to convince them but they just curse at me and say no. it hurts me so much that my OWN parents wouldn't support me in something that I love to do. they don't know that skateboarding is what makes me happy. before I broke my arm, all I was thinking of is when's school going to be over because I couldn't wait to skateboard. my parents doesn't know how important skateboarding is to me. skateboarding is what makes me forget about my problems. skateboarding is like a therapy for me. my father once told me that I wouldn't make a fortune in skateboarding, all I wanted to say to him "I don't care about the money I care about me having fun and being happy" skateboarding is what makes me happy! how can I convinve my parents to let skateboard again? :(

  1. breaking bones and getting hurt is part of learning.everyone gets hurt.tell them that tony hawk broke his elbow also.might help.if they say no just skate anyway.its not their decision.goodluck

  2. i had this same problem with blading, eventually they let me start again, but it sounds like you dont want to wait any longer so just do it when they are out then atleast you get to do it some of the time or tell them what you've told us that would definately persuade me.

    hope this helps!!

  3. I broke a lot of bones as a kid on motocross, skateboarding, rock climbing and rappelling, now as a parent, and having spent about $8,000-$10,000 of my own money on a compound tib/fib fracture, I see how expensive it can be for parents to pay for their children's medical bills.

I still love blading, but more for speed and cardio, instead of rails slides, jumping benches, and off of loading docks, because time out of commission and bills incurred are EXPENSIVE, plus I have to look out for my own child now.

Maybe find a skate park, and get the proper gear, let see them see you do it and how happy it makes you, and maybe they'll lighten up.

Good luck! When we stop moving is when we're in trouble...

  4. your dad tellling you that you wont be able to make a fortune in skateboarding is f!@#$% stupid.  tell them that you could still focus on school stuff and skateboarding at the same time. besides its summer holiday. or just sneak around and skate while you're out (of their sight)
