How will I know if my 1 year old child is smart or not?

I need a checklist to determine her intelligent rate,evaluate if she's smart or not? Help...

Curiosity is a big indicator of a child's intelligence. But at this point, it is not important to know how smart the baby is. The important thing at this age is to be sure that you are giving the child the opportunities to expand their creativity and play so that they can develop their intelligence.

every kid is smart unless they have mental disabilibties you know

just wait till you kids 2 or 3 and you'll see how fast your kids learning, and if you want to find out how fast your kids learning

dont make it into competition but compare to other one years olds in walking, talking, etc.

Here are developmental milestones for cognitive, physical, motor, psychological, language, and social development for a 1 year old.

It is never a bad idea to have the knowledge of what developmental milestones are appropriate.  Without this knowledge many parents aren't able to pick up that the child is behind, then early intervention is delayed.  And who suffers for the parents being in denial, the child.    Kudos to you for having the insight to gain knowledge and awareness for this.

The Peabody assessment is a tool used to screen all areas of development for children this age.

Why do you need to know if a one year old is smart?? She is one for goodness sake! Just be happy if she hits milestones and worry about intelligence in a few years.

All children learn at different rates.There are small guidelines for 1 year old.But they are only minor things like : They should be able to sit by this age , can they hold a toy and pick it up independently.

Knowing your child's intellectual abilities should be the last thing on your mind right now.The baby hurdles and physical developments are far more important at that age

I don't think there is a test of things that a 1 year old can do or not. I also don't believe if she knows them then that makes her smart or not. Some children are more quiet so they don't talk as much, or whatever but that doesn't make them dumb. Children develop at different rates. All you can do is teach her as much as you can and hope that she will do well in school.

They all catch up by age 5 anyway.  It's not a competition.  Call your local school district.  See if they have parent educators, they can help you.

Look there really isn’t a way to say if the baby is smart or not at 1, but you can make sure that he will be by teaching him educational stuff and still be normal by using toys to get him entertained. I recommend that you visit this site which contains a large amount of toys, furniture, puppets, etc so that your kid will have all the education he needs and I’m sure he will end up smart. I would say that you would know if your 1 yr old is smart or not.  These days with everything that could go wrong, I think we should be thankful for having a normal child and smart is not necessarily an added bonus.  Most clinics do 1yr old assessment.  Just be content if your 1 year old meets all his/her milestones.  If you think you have a genius on your hands, believe me...you would know about it by now
