How will I know when I am getting my wisdom teeth in?

I am 22 years old. I think I am getting my wisdom teeth in, on the left side the mouth. It feels like something is poking me in my cheek. I just don't know if it's because I haven't wore my retainer in awhile and my teeth moved that much, or I am getting my wisdom teeth.
