I started playing volleyball recently..and I instantly loved the sport.I'm going to have a volleyball training this summer and planning to join the varsity or the volleyball team for sportsfest in our school.

However..how would I know if which position is best for me..? Like ..am I a striker quality..or perhaps a blocker etc..?

  1. well... if your tall your best for being a blocker.... if your tall and strong AND can jump high your best shot is being a hitter(spiker) if your best at setting be a setter, and if you can pass(bump) and dig(dive) for the ball  REALLY good be in the back row...

  2. it depends on your strengths because you can be an all around player and just fill in. but if you just want to focus on one thing then ask your coach what he or she thinks you will progress and succeed in. i play power and i love it. have the last touch somtimes and smashing it hard.

  3. you should let your coach decide what position you will be playing because they can tell what you are best at and in which position you will help the team the most

  4. Let the coach make that decision, that is why they are paid the big bucks.  They know what to look for for each position and can spot your potential.

  5. it depends on what you like to do.

ask some coaches on what you seem to be best at.

  6. EASY:

*IF U CAN JUMP HIGH- BLOKER OR HITTER

*IF YOU CAN POSION THE BALL FOR PEOPLE TO HIT AND MASTER THE BALL- OPOSITE OR SETTER( OPPOSITE IS THE PERSON THAT IS IN THE OPOSITE POSITION OF THE SETER AND IF THE SETER CANT MAKE IT HE HAS TO SET IT FOR HIM OR HER)

*IF YOU CAN DEFEND WELL LIKE NO BALL PASSES YOU - LIBERO

    * IF YOU MASTER EVERYTHING PICK WICH ONE

  7. if you like hitting and blocking... then you should definatly play outside hitter or middle.

if you like setting, then, obviouly, play right front (setters hit sometimes too)

if all you like to do is pass, then you should play in the back row (or you could play lebero)

it all depends on the skill level of your intesity and love for the game :)

  8. If you are a beginner, it probably doesn't matter - you need to learn all the skills.  If you want to become the most valuable player, then you should try to learn how to set.   The setter is like the quarterback in football.   They have to think the most, move the most, and have the highest skills.

Here are a few clues as to what position you'd be good at:

Height:  If you're near 6 feet tall, you're make a GREAT middle hitter

Foot Speed:   This is important for a setter and back row play.  You always need to get your feet behind the ball

    Hand Strength:   Needed for setting!

Arm Strength: Needed for Blocking and Hitting

Hand-Eye coordination - Needed for Hitting.

Get all the basics down -  Most important is foot speed.   Your feet need to get there first before you can do anything else with consistency.  Digging, Hitting, Setting, or Blocking!!!!

  9. So I'm guessing you want to be a front row person? You might be a good setter or back row too. If you are tall, and are able to jump and hit the vb hard you prbly would be a good front row person. If you enjoy just bumping you probably would be a good backrow person, and you might be a good setter. You can pick what ever you want, or you can ask your coach and they might know what you would be good at.
