How will Obama break our dependence on oil....?

When so many products we use already contain petroleum. It's good to look at enery alternatives like wind and solar but you can hardly put those into these items.

That's the first thing that comes to mind when I hear something like that.  We still need oil for other things and industries.  We'll still need it to make oils and greases for whatever energy efficient cars we put on the road.  We need it for tires and we need it for plastics and other chemicals.  I think all the politicians shoot from the lip without thinking.  Yes, we'll still be dependent on oil, and we have larger oil reserves than all of the Middle East.  We will still have to drill, but the money will stay in our economy, unless we give that away too.

He won't.  The only ones that can break our dependence on oil is us.  Not to mention that half of the people in office have been bought off by the oil companies, even if he hasn't been (which I doubt) he can't pass anything on his own without the support of other offices.

He will work on lowering it by giving grants to alternative fuel studies (hopefull). No one can completely break dependancy on oil in 4 years. I have high hopes that he will put serious attempts to do so in motion though. Obama!

Click, read.  There are many different things that need to be done that can't be summed up in one or two sentences.

That being said no one can claim we won't still need oil in the immediate future.  We get more than half of our foreign oil now from Canada and Mexico, the point is to break out dependence on oil from foreign HOSTILE nations and to create a better sustainable source as soon as possible.

it's possible there are many forms of energy that are not open to people because republicans think that we should use up everything before we consider anything.

and some type from space we could use which wouldn't cause any damage and won't ever be all used up its not well know

and electric cars would save us all they have to is sell them they have already been invented.
