I know you're not psychic but they seemed to make a breakthrough in Spain.

Do you think they can really take the fight to BMW and McLaren and steer clear of Toyota and the rest of the pack in Turkey?

  1. I think they have a good chance to battle it out with BMW and Mclaren. Pat Symonds has already said that Renault are within 1% of the leading team. I'm confident that they will have a good weekend!

  2. My guess is they will either be average or they will start out really well and then have an engine failure half way through the race.

  3. Not really sure how well they'd do just by judging their performance in Spain. Alonso did pretty well until his engine blew and Piquet Jr hasn't really been shining. I don't think they are capable of matching BMW and McLaren yet but they could be a challenge to Toyota.

  4. probably better than the rest(Williams, Toyota, Red Bull, Honda, Toro Rosso, Force India).  I think in a full racing condition, they have more improvements to develop to match McLaren. BMW and especially Ferrari

  5. In Spain, Alonso only pitted 2 laps before the other front-runners which suggests it's pace was not all due to a light fuel load.  He also looked comfortable in the car in fifth place before he had to retire due to engine failure.  We can't be sure after having only seen the car in one race, if it will be able to compete with the BMW's and Mclaren's but it is definitely improved since Australia, Malaysia and Bahrain.

    Edit:

I think the improvement of their car and the fact that the Mclarens aren't performing as strongly shows how valuable Alonso's input and ability at developing a car is.

    Edit:

I don't think he's had a lot of involvement with the aero but he has helped in improving the r28's mechanical grip.

  6. Forget about it. The McLarens are way ahead. U saw how Hammy was pushing Massa all throughout the race in Spain. That shows that McLaren and Ferrari are the front runners. However BMW's pace is catcheable. There is a long way for Renault to go in order to catch McLaren. Al least, for now Renault cannot even dream for a podium finish.

Edit : Hey, Chris.. I fear u r mistaken. U remember last year Mclaren amassed 218 points, far more than Ferrari. But it was sad to have them out of the constructor's championship. This year it is going to be even better because that boringly slow Alonso is out of McLaren. The starting of this season has been a bit sad coz McLaren Have been involved in some unwanted accident and mistake. In order to believe me u will have to wail for another 3 races and watch McLaren scoring a hattrick 1-2 finish.

  7. Not sure really.

Had Alonso not unfortunately retired in Spain, there would have been a bit more to go on as far as knowing whether or not the car has made some signifigant improvemnt or not.

Never the less his drive sparked a lot of interest in me and I will be watching badboy's and Piquet's performances very closely.

I hope Alonso is on it - like a bad rash!
