Question:

How will a Freeview digital box affect recording things on a video? Can I keep programs recorded on a digibox?

I often record programs and films and keep the videos for future viewing. I have heard that videos can't record from a Freeview digi-box. Is this true? If so, what are my options for recording (and keeping) programs?

  1. The best option is to go for a PVR, which is a box with a built-in hard drive on to which you record your programs. The very best and most expensive allow you to pass the recording on to other media.

You can record from freeview if the box has an output SCART socket and your recording device has an input SCART. You simply loop through to the television. You need a freeview box with a twin tuner if you want to watch and record different channels at the same time. All PVRs should have this. Alternatively if your telly has freeview built in you can watch and record different channels regardless of how many tuners your box has got.

Not many video recorders have a scart input- may I suggest swapping to a HDD/DVD combo?
